Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow Prepare for Snow

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown area residents braced for the possibility of weekend snow on Friday, all the while proclaiming 'What happened to autumn?'

Tarrytown resident Katharine Swibold posted on The Daily Tarrytown's Facebook page that she wasn't prepared for the predicted snow.

“It is too early,” she wrote.

Goldberg Hardware in Tarrytown reported that they had a few customers come in and buy winter weather gear. The store pulled everything it had from last year out of the back.

Tarrytown moved its Halloween Parade back a day to Sunday fearing snowfall. Sunday's parade will assemble at Patriot's Park at 5 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. start. Tarrytown will have a block party after the parade on Main St.

Sleepy Hollow announced that its Haunted Hayride and Halloween Block Party would still be going on as planned, although the village would reevaluate the situation at 9 a.m. on Saturday. If the weather does not cooperate, the village will move its Halloween events to Sunday. Notices would be emailed and posted on the village's website. Historic Hudson Valley cancelled all of its events.

Pasqlea Prpalltta, a 35-year resident of Tarrytown, was outside his house on Friday, covering up his patio furniture. Prpalltta said he usually covers up his furniture during winter because he doesn't sit or eat outside.

But, he said, “It's too early” for snow.
