IRVINGTON, N.Y. The Irvington girls basketball team showed its dominance Wednesday, rolling toward the upcoming Section 1 postseason playoffs with a dominating 77-33 victory over visiting Dobbs Ferry.
Alexis Martins led the way with 21 points and Marley Giddins and Brittni Lai each added 15 points in the rout as the two-time defending New York State and Section 1 Class B champion Bulldogs, who have lost just once this season, move toward a defense of their titles.
Coach Gina Mahers Bulldogs opened with a 23-6 first-quarter blitz and led 34-17 at halftime before extending their lead to 30 points after three quarters.
Dobbs Ferry was led by Chrissy Whitty with nine points, Alyssa Chipelo with seven points and Kana Kihara with six.
