IRVINGTON, N.Y. The Irvington school district has reached an agreement with its administrators' association and resolved a compliant concerning merit pay, the district announced Monday.
School board members are expected to approve the new contract during their Tuesday meeting.
The Administrative unit is pleased to have come to closure after several years of no contract and frozen salaries, High School Principal Scott Mosenthal, head of the Administrators' Association, said in a press release. I think it's a fair settlement for both sides, and I would like to thank [School Superintendent] Dr. Robert Roelle in the negotiations since he arrived last fall.
The previous administrators contract ended June 30, 2009. Under the new contract, administrators agree to a salary freeze from 2009-10 through 2011-12. They will see a 1 percent increase in salary in 2012-13 and a 1.5 percent increase between 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Administrative salary structures do not include step increases.
Health insurance contributions will also increase under the new contract. Administrators currently pay 10 percent. The contribution will rise to 15 percent next year and 20 percent by 2015-16.
The contract also stipulates a commitment to fulfill the New York State administrator evaluation requirement by July 1.
School Board President John Dawson said in the press release that he was pleased with the agreement and thanked officials for working out a contract that recognizes the current fiscal climate.
In addition to the agreeing on a new contract, administrators settled a complaint filed with the Public Employee Relations Board concerning merit pay. The complaint charged that administrators were due merit pay for the school years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 at approximately $20,000 each.
The district and administrators have agreed to a payment of $6,000 during the current school year and a one-time payment of $1,000 next year.
The agreement avoids a board hearing on the matter.
