Irvington School Board Candidates Debate Tuesday

Five candidates competing for two open seats on the Irvington Board of Education will take part in a debate Tuesday at Irvington High School.

Incumbents John Dawson and Robyne Camp are seeking re-election and face challenges by Robyn Kerner, Maria Kashkin and Della Lenz.

Tuesday's debate will take place from 7-9 p.m. in the Campus Presentation Room at Irvington High School. The debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

Dawson is the current school board president. He has lived in Irvington for several decades and teaches in Yonkers. Camp is a current school board member.

Kerner previously served on the Irvington Board of Education and is a member of the PTSA, Dows Lane Parent Action Committee, Irvington Middle School Site Committee and Budget Task Force.

Lenz is an Irvington resident who has chaired several school functions, such as the PTSA Winter Festival and Pizza Friday. She also has volunteered with the Irvington Education Foundation, Abbott House and Andrus Children's Center.

Kashkin is an Irvington PTSA executive board member and former Dows Lane Elementary School president. The Irvington resident is a member of the Irvington Fundraising and Community Events Committee and chair of the Fieldpoint Architectural Review Board.
