IRVINGTON, N.Y. – During the two years students spent at the Main Street School, Principal Raina Kor said she hoped her students gained strength and confidence to be themselves.

“The same will never be what I wish for any of you,” she said. “It is the uniqueness of each of you that has created the amazing landscape of Main Street.”

Irvington fifth-graders celebrated their time at Main Street School and the move to Irvington Middle School in a moving-up ceremony at the Campus Arts and Athletics center on Thursday morning.

Students sang songs such as the Main Street School song and "Lean on Me" before thanking teachers, administrators and community members for their work. Students also donated a plaque to the school as their class gift.

Kor advised students to think outside the box and consider what could be. She said she hoped students were able to gain wisdom from their time at Main Street School.

“I hope that you explored new learning and found something to love,” she said. “I hope that you have found a new place in your imagination—a place that will continue to grow and to dream.”
