Thief Steals Tarrytown Fire Boat Equipment

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown Police say $4,000 worth of hardware was stolen off of the Tarrytown fire boat.

Fire Chief Eugene Gasparre reported June 8 that the roller system and connecting hardware had been taken from the boat. The village fire boat was parked on the west side of the village garage when the theft occurred.

Police have filed a petit larceny case.

Police have also reported the following:

Car Confusion: A woman who works at an office building on White Plains Road reported seeing a black car driving around the parking lot on June 9. Police later discovered a Tarrytown Honda customer was test driving a car.

Car Accidents: Two car accidents were reported in the Tarrytown Centre parking lot on June 9. The first accident took place around 3:30 p.m. The second accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Both included minor car damage.

Thruway Fire: Firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer fire on the New York State Thruway near Exit 8 around 6 p.m. June 8.

Pedestrian Almost Hit: A pedestrian on Franklin Street reported he was almost hit by a taxi around 6 p.m. June 8.

Illegal Dumping: Westchester County Police notified Tarrytown Police of a tip reporting illegal dumping by the Neperan Road pump house on June 8. Police checked the area, but found no violations.

Loose Dog: An Embree Street resident reported a loose pit bull June 7. Police spoke with the dog's owner, who said the dog never left her yard.

Motorists' Dispute: Two motorists engaged in a verbal dispute on Main Street around 2:30 p.m. June 7 after one motorist backed into the other's car.

Multiple Car Accident: Police responded to reports of a car accident involving two cars and a Bee Line Bus on Main Street around noon on June 7.
