Tarrytown Woman Gets Suspicious Utility Bill Call

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A call to a Tarrytown resident quickly turned suspicious when the caller tried to get the woman's utility bill account number, police said.

The Hendrick Lane resident reported on Sept. 19 that someone called saying legislation had been passed to help seniors lower their utility bills. When the caller asked for her account number, the woman questioned why it was needed and the caller hung up.

The woman called the number back, but found it was out of service, police said.
