Tarrytown Police Say Man's 'Sick Father' Was a Con

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown police say a 45-year-old man fleeced two Continental Manor residents out of money by telling them he had a sick father.

Ronald Snyder has been charged with two counts of petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He is accused of scamming $150 from two residents and trying to hoodwink a third.

Police say Snyder first told a resident of the South Broadway condominiums on May 28 that he needed $82 to pay for his father's medicine. The woman gave him $100.

Snyder allegedly told another woman on May 29 that he needed cash for his sick father who lived in an upstairs apartment. She gave him $50.

Police said they arrested Snyder about 4 p.m. May 30 after he knocked on a third resident's window and asked for money.

Village Justice Kyle McGovern arraigned Snyder and set bail at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Snyder was taken to the Westchester County jail.
