State Police To Target Unsafe Driving On Thruway

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Police will step up enforcement on the New York State Thruway next week as part of their annual “Operation Summer Brake” campaign.

The eight-day campaign is designed to promote safe driving in work zones. The campaign will begin Monday and continue through Labor Day, the New York State Thruway Authority announced.

“Throughout this period of expanded enforcement, the dedicated members of Troop T will be watching for those who are intoxicated, speeding, or driving aggressively,” State Police Sgt. Thomas Ferritto said. “Also, Troop T will be enforcing the Move Over Law to protect maintenance workers, tow truck operators, and state troopers.”

More than 800 tickets were issued during last year's campaign.
