SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – A theft from a porch has Sleepy Hollow police warning residents to keep an eye out for holiday thieves.

Many people are shopping online, and gifts are being during during these holidays,” Police Chief Gregory Camp said in a statement. “Remain vigilant, and if observing anything suspicious, immediately report this to the Police Department.”

Police charged Mario Cuevas, 32,with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. Police had received a report that someone stole a package from a Howard Street porch and then walked to North Washington Street around 3 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Police recovered the package after finding Cuevas on North Washington Street.
