Sleepy Hollow Man Faces Weapons Charge After Foot Pursuit, Violent Struggle

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- A 30-year-old Sleepy Hollow man is facing multiple charges after being apprehended in a foot pursuit that resulted in a violent struggle with police on Thursday, March 31.

Subsequent to a short-term investigation conducted by members of the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force along with Tarrytown police arrested Robert Ramos at about 9:25 p.m.

The arrest was made after a brief foot pursuit on Crescent Drive in Tarrytown when Ramos engaged in a violent struggle with officers, police said.

He was only subdued after a Taser deployment. Recovered during the arrest was a loaded Raven 25 caliber semi-automatic handgun which was found to be defaced (without a serial number). The defendant was charged with the following:

* Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree

* Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (defaced firearm)

3. Assault in the second degree

4. Resisting arrest

Three police officers sustained injuries while attempting to place the defendant under arrest. The defendant, a previously convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history, was held for arraignment and subsequently remanded to the Westchester County Jail pending his next court appearance on Wednesday, April 6.

More charges are expected after task force officers with officers of the Sleepy Hollow police department recovered approximately 24 grams of alleged cocaine from the defendant’s residence after his arrest.
