Darlin M. Fabian is charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and other traffic offenses in connection with the incident, police said.
A state trooper witnessed Fabian making several unsafe lane changes and tailgating other vehicles, according to police.
When the officer tried to pull Fabian’s vehicle over, Fabian hit his accelerator and speed away from state troopers, leading them on a brief pursuit, police said.
Fabian’s vehicle was disabled after he hit a curb on State Route 119 in Elmsford, according to police.
Officers from the Village of Elmsford Police Department helped state troopers apprehend and arrest Fabian.
Fabian posted bail, and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Elmsford Court on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
