Police: Tarrytown Anthrax Report Unfounded

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – An anthrax scare reported by a Tarrytown woman turned out to be nothing, Tarrytown police said.

The Independence Street resident called the Westchester County Department of Health on Oct. 12 because she thought a bottle of aspirin contained anthrax. A county hazmat team and the Greenburgh Technical Rescue Team responded with a machine to test the bottle for anthrax but found no hazardous materials, police said.

The bottle and pills were sent to a lab for further confirmation. The Tarrytown woman was given a medical evaluation at her house but refused further treatment.
