Duffel Bag Prompts Tarrytown Train Station Evacuation

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A suspicious, unattended duffel bag prompted a brief evacuation of the Tarrytown Train Station, but police say an investigation revealed it was only clothes.

A suspicious, unattended duffel bag prompted a brief evacuation of the Tarrytown Train Station, but police say an investigation revealed it was only clothes.

Police say the bag was left on a bench at the train station on April 25. Officers evacuated the train station building and set up a traffic perimeter while Tarrytown and Metro North police investigated what was in the bag.

After finding several items of clothing, police reopened the area.

Police also reported the following items:

  • Police charged Mark Palmer, 31, for disorderly conduct, a violation, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation,  at the Tarrytown Train Station on April 26.
  • A motorist was taken to the Westchester Medical Center after a car went down an embankment on Benedict Avenue on April 25. Police say the motorist sustained a facial laceration and reported pain in both hands.
