Car Narrowly Misses Tarrytown Bicyclist On Route 9

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A bicyclist was almost struck by a car while riding near the intersection of Route 9 and Cobb Lane, Tarrytown police said.

Police say the bicyclist was heading north on Route 9 around 1 p.m. Aug. 23 when a gray Buick turned right onto Cobb Lane without signaling. The car almost hit the bicyclist, causing him to fall off and bruise his arms, police say.

Police say the bicycle also was damaged.

Police also reported the following items:

• Police charged two men Aug. 23 with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Michael Sweeney, 20, and Tyler Blumenfeld, 20, were arraigned and taken to the Westchester County Jail.

• A loose pit bull was reported on Baylis Court around 3:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

• Paramedics were sent to help a woman in labor on the New York State Thruway around 1 a.m. Aug. 26.

• A loose pit bull was reported on North Washington Street around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 24.

• An Asbury Terrace resident reported her neighbor had sprayed her front door with a voodoo spray Aug. 23.

• A Tarrytown police officer found a car in the Tarrytown Centre parking lot that appeared to have been broken into Aug. 23. Police secured the vehicle and left a note for the owner.
