Jeannette 'Jay' Ho, 42, Of Tarrytown

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Jeannette Acacia Ho of Tarrytown died Thursday, Sept. 13, after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 42.

Born Feb. 23, 1970, at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, she was the daughter of Margaret and Stanley Ho. Known as "Jay" to her family and friends, Ho was the youngest child in the family of 10.

She attended Tarrytown schools and graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 1988. Ho graduated from Purchase College, SUNY, and lived in Tarrytown with her partner, Keith Bonney.

She worked as a learning leadership development associate for Eileen Fisher since 2007. Ho previously worked for Kate's Paperie in Greenwich, Conn., and was a co-owner of Baskin-Robbins in Tarrytown.

An ardent volunteer, Ho was a member of the Empire Dragons rowing team of breast cancer survivors. In 2011, she initiated the first SantaCon cancer fundraiser for Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, sponsored by J.P. Doyle's in Sleepy Hollow.

Ho was recognized at this year's annual Peekskill Riverfront Green celebration as the breast cancer honoree on two dragon boat teams, the Empire Dragons and Yin Yang Dragons.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday morning at the Church of the Transfiguration in Tarrytown. Coffey Funeral Home handled arrangements.
