Belanich was born in NYC, son of John and Catherine (Budinich) Belanich. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and received the Army Occupation Medal in Germany. He retired in 1998 from Phelps Memorial Hospital as head of security.
Belanich is survived by his wife, Elvira; daughters, Donna Duarte of Peekskill, Janet (Carmine) Azzaro of Yonkers, Mary Ann (George) Cacchiani of Hawthorne, and Lisa (Mario) Scappaticci of Sleepy Hollow; brother, John (Barbara) Belanich of Port Washington; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and son, Mark.
