The work will include daytime pile driving to install the temporary foundation piles needed to support the platform. Pile driving is expected begin on Friday, May 10. The trestle is a work platform that will support a crane that will be used to build new bridge.

The new bridge is being built to ease congestion and safety concerns on the Tappan Zee Bridge. The existing bridge is prone to severe congestion and does not meet bridge and highway standards, such as lane and shoulder widths, officials have said. In addition, it requires an extensive and costly maintenance. The work will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
