Tarrytown Trustee Falls Ill, Ambulance Called During Meeting

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A village board meeting in Tarrytown was adjourned Monday night after Deputy Mayor Thomas Basher began feeling ill and paramedics were called.

Basher had earlier apologized in case he wasn't being clear and had a very red face.

“Excuse me if I'm a little—I don't feel well at all,” he said to resident Lori Semeraro.

Basher quickly stepped out of the meeting around 9:45 p.m. while answering questions during the public comment period of the meeting. Trustees and residents in the audience asked him whether he was feeling ok.

“Tommy, are you alright?” – Trustee Robert Hoyt asked. Basher said he wanted to step out and get some water.

Members of the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Greenburgh EMS treated Basher at village hall. The TVAC ambulance left the scene around 10 p.m., but Trustee Becky McGovern said later that Basher would be getting checked out and that his wife was on her way.

Trustees and other village officials began to exit the building around 10:15 p.m.

The meeting has been adjourned to Wednesday at 7 p.m., where trustees will vote on the resolutions on Monday's agenda.
