TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Christmas is a big deal for the Parents' Guild at the Transfiguration School. It's the season that holds one of its biggest fundraisers.
This Saturday marks the 2011 Christmas tree and wreath sale, where students and parents will be raising funds to help out their school no matter what weather from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Parents' Guild President Lauren Fragola said.
Fragola said the fundraiser will include trees, wreaths, poinsettias, baked goods, crafts and books. She said there will also be a craft table for younger kids.
Parents and others will also have the opportunity to purchase books for individual classrooms at the Scholastic Book Fair. Fragola said teachers have put together lists of books for their classes that will be available.
It's a great time for our school to get together, she said.
Trees will be selling for $45, $60 and $75. The 16-inch decorated wreaths will be selling for $16. Poinsettias are offered at $10 per plant.
The proceeds from Saturday's sales will go towards the Parents' Guild. Fragola noted that the group uses its funds to support the Transfiguration School by buying equipment and supplies, Anything the school needs, Fragola said.
We try to support the school the best we can, she said.
The sale is also an opportunity for eighth graders to earn some needed community service hours before their confirmation. Fragola noted that many students will be helping load trees and man food and craft tables. She noted that the sale is usually very successful for the school and it should be a wonderful event.
We hope the rest of the community comes, Fragola said.
