TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Tarrytown trustees have expressed concern about a chamber of commerce request asking the village to help fund a series of Halloween events for the Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow area.
"We don't have the money," Trustee Douglas Zollo said at a board meeting last week.
Zollo also noted that Tarrytown already has a "very nice parade" and that the organizers' request came late enough that trustees would have to act hastily.
Zollo said with a lack of money, time and information about the events, it wasn't the right time to consider the request. He noted that the chamber of commerce had not yet committed to funding it.
"We'll consider it next year," he said.
Trustee Robert Hoyt noted that Tarrytown was already hosting its own parade.
Trustee Mary McGee wondered whether Tarrytown residents would even want the village to participate in the joint event instead of putting on their own parade.
"People like it because it is a hometown thing where they see their friends and neighbors," she said.
