Man Arrested for DWI
Tarrytown police responded to a motor vehicle accident on North Broadway on July 15 around 6:30 p.m. Officers arrested a man for first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and DWI felony. The man refused to submit to a chemical test, police say, and he was taken to headquarters for processing. Tarrytown Justice Kyle McGovern arraigned the man, who later posted the $300 bail.
Raccoon Gets Itself Stuck
A raccoon got stuck in a garbage dumpster on Martling Ave. on July 15 around 8:31 a.m. Police notified animal control.
Passports, Money Stolen at EF School
Two students at the EF School had their passports and $700 taken from a room in Butler Hall on July 13 between 12 and 7 p.m. The students guardian had been keeping the passports and money for them in her room. The students wanted the incident to be noted on the record so that they could have new passports issued to them by their embassy since all three were leaving the country soon.
Man Makes Scene Outside Music Hall
The Tarrytown Music Hall kicked a man out of a Dave Mason performance on July 13. After he was kicked out of the concert, he began screaming offensive language, police say. He was arrested around 10:30 p.m. for disorderly conduct and later released on his own recognizance.
Woman Struck By Her Own Car
Police responded to a report that a woman was hurt on Martling Ave. on July 12 around 2 p.m. and that she was possibly struck by a vehicle.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the woman had been struck by her own car, which had rolled out of its parking spot and run over the womans right leg.
The woman was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Heat Blows Out Car Window
The heat was too much for a car on South Broadway on July 10 around 6:30 p.m. A man reported to police that his rear window was damaged, and when police got there, they found it was possibly damaged from extreme heat. The heat is thought to have created pressure conditions inside the car, which had been parked directly in the sun with all windows closed for several hours.
Car Hits Deer on South Broadway
A car struck a deer at the intersection of Broadway and Church Street on July 9 around 11 p.m. The car sustained no damage, but the deer was injured. Officers borrowed an animal snare from the Sleepy Hollow Police Department and moved the deer to the side of the road, where it died. Police contacted the highway department for removal and returned the snare.
