TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Police efforts to catch a loose pit bull spanned several days and led them throughout the village before the chase ended in Sleepy Hollow.
A pit bull was first spotted near Lyndhurst on South Broadway around noon on Feb. 16. Irvington police reported four hours later that they had gotten several calls about a loose dog on Pintail Road.
The Tarrytown House Estate Conference Center called to report a loose pit bull around 8:30 a.m. the next day and police reported that the animal warden sent to the scene failed to capture the dog. It was spotted four hours later on the jogging path adjacent to Neperan Road but fled before police could catch it.
Members of the Tarrytown Ambulance Corp reported a loose pit bull in the area of the C-Town supermarket in the morning on Feb. 18 and another caller reported that a pit bull had possibly been struck by a car on South Broadway across the street from the Transfiguration Church. A third called spotted a pit bull on Meadow Street around 10:30 a.m. the same day.
The dog was spotted near Washington Irving School around 9 a.m. on Feb. 19. Police and animal control followed the animal to the area near Altamont and Fairview, but the dog eluded capture and was seen three hours later near the Hackley School.
A loose dog was reported to have entered the back yard of a house on Round a Bend Road around 11 a.m. on Feb. 20.
Police finally cornered the dog after it was spotted on West Main Street and then Hudson Street in Sleepy Hollow on Feb. 21. The pit bull fled into the General Motors property before they could catch it.
Animal control officers finally caught the dog on the Castle Oil property.

Parking Tickets
Police towed a car on Main Street around noon on Feb. 22 after discovering it had $1,740 worth of unpaid parking tickets.
Burglary
A woman reported that her condominium on North Broadway had been broken into and that two pairs of sunglasses were missing on Feb. 21. Someone had also rummaged through her wallet and left her kitchen cabinet doors open.
Threatening Co-Worker
A women who had been suspended from work for bullying another employee returned to work at 303 S. Broadway around 8 a.m. on Feb. 20 and proceeded to go after the same employee. The woman was stopped before she could physically harm the employee, but made several threatening statements. The woman was fired, but the business' owner felt that she might come back to retaliate.
Reported Robbery
A man went to police headquarters and reported that he had been robbed of $200 and a cell phone by three men with a knife at 100 College Arms in Sleepy Hollow. Tarrytown Police notified Sleepy Hollow Police and took the man to their headquarters.
