TARRYTOWN, N.Y. A Tarrytown man was indicted Tuesday on 15 charges including kidnapping, burglary, strangulation and assault after an incident that took place on Sept. 19, the Westchester District Attorney's Office announced.
Reese Basile, 36, is charged with one count of second-degree kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree strangulation, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of third-degree criminal mischief and one count of fourth-degree criminal contempt, all felonies, and three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree menacing, which are misdemeanors.
Police and the DA said Basile got into an argument with his girlfriend at his home in Tarrytown after they said she discovered Reese had stolen an iPod Touch and more than $1,000 from her. Reese then accused the woman of spending the day with a male friend, the DA said.
Basile then struck the woman numerous times with a starter's pistol, strangled her, told her he was going to kill her and forced her at gunpoint to accompany him to a friend's house in Sleepy Hollow, the District Attorney's Office said.
When Basile and the woman got to his friend's house, Basile kicked down the door and struck another man several times in the head with a gun, the District Attorney's Office said. The woman fled from the house and the man called 911.
Basile was arrested at his home in Tarrytown after a preliminary investigation. The District Attorney's Office said Basile continued to call the woman from jail after he was arraigned and an order of protection had been placed on the woman.
Basile will appear in court on Nov. 28. He faces consecutive maximum sentences of five to 20 years for the kidnapping and burglary charges. He remains in County Jail.
