TARRYTOWN, N.Y. The phone call saying he had won $5 million and a Mercedes Benz car was too good to believe for one Tarrytown resident.
The man called police around 5:30 p.m. on April 21 to report the suspicious call after the man on the phone, who identified himself as Omar Golden, told him he'd need to get a Green Dot Cash Stack Card from CVS to redeem the prize.
Police noted the call for the record.
Police also reported the following items:
Elevator Shaft Fall: A person fell down the elevator shaft at the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns and was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center around 11:30 a.m. on April 21.
Graffiti: The Striped Bass restaurant reported that graffiti was sprayed on its building on April 21.
Felony DWI: Police charged Melvin Eduardo Guzman, 38, with felony DWI after stopping his pick-up truck on Crescent Drive around 11:45 p.m. on April 20. The charged was felony DWI because he had a prior DWI conviction in the last decade. Guzman was arraigned on $15,000 cash or $25,000 bond and taken to the Westchester County Jail.
Fire Engine Accident: Tarrytown Assistant Fire Chief William Logan reported that a fire engine struck a parked car on South Broadway while responding to a call around 6:30 p.m. on April 20.
Police Car Accident: A Tarrytown police officer reported around 5 p.m. on April 20 that his police car had gotten into an accident with another car on South Broadway at Park Avenue. The officer reported injuries to his neck and back. He was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.
Sick Raccoons: Police received a report that there was a sick raccoon on South Broadway around 3:30 p.m. on April 20, but the raccoon had vanished by the time police arrived. Another sick raccoon was reported under the deck of a house on Crest Drive around noon on April 21, with Greenburgh Animal Control responding.
Debit Card Theft: A Riverview Avenue resident reported on April 20 that her debit card had been used by an unknown person in Connecticut. Police filed a petit larceny case.
Mulch Fires: Mulch around Village Hall was seen smoking twice on April 20 around 12:45 a.m. and then 5 a.m. Both fires were extinguished.
