RIDGEFIELD, Conn. A 21-year-old Tarrytown man has been charged along with five others for providing alcohol to minors after a Ridgefield police investigation into an accident that killed 16-year-old Ridgefield High School student Jacqueline "JJ" Brice in August.
James Werner is charged with conspiracy to commit procuring alcohol for a minor and conspiracy to commit obtaining alcohol with a false ID. Werner was 20 at the time of the accident.
Police have also charged a 16-year-old Ridgefield woman and two 16-year-old Ridgefield men for delivery of alcohol to minors.
A 17-year old Ridgefield man was charged with conspiracy to deliver alcohol to a minor.
Another 17-year old Ridgefield male was charged for delivery of alcohol to a minor, delivery of alcohol with a false ID and second-degree forgery.
Brice died on August 4 around 4 a.m. on Keeler Drive in Ridgefield. Police said she was driving around a curve in the roadway when it crossed into the opposite lane and traveled off the roadway.
The vehicle struck a tree with the driver's side front fender, police said in a press release. The tree tore into the vehicle, removing the front tire, front fender, driver's and rear doors. The vehicle then struck a large rock and spun 180 degrees.
Police determined that Brice had been speeding. The medical examiner later determined that her blood alcohol content was .19 percent at the time of the accident.
Police said an investigation into the accident reveled that two underage parties occurred at homes in Ridgefield on August 3. Two 17-year old males supplied the alcohol for one party using fake IDs at two Danbury businesses. Police said Werner supplied alcohol for the second party.
The names of the teenagers have not been released because they are minors.
