Tarrytown Lights Up Its Holiday Tree

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Holiday cheer filled Patriot's Park on Saturday evening when hundreds gathered to watch the village flip the switch on its holiday tree.

Tarrytown Recreation Supervisor Joe Arduino thanked those who came out to watch while the Tappan Zee Bridgemen performed Christmas classics. When 5 p.m. hit, Arduino encouraged everyone to count down to the big event.

Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell lit up the tree when they finished.

Warner Library hosted its annual holiday gathering after the event, and many parents took their kids to visit Santa. The Hudson Bells also performed.

Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow will host several other holiday events this month.

Warner Library is screening the 2009 move “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. The library will also play host to a Chanukah Puppet Show on Dec. 20 at 4 p.m.

Both villages are also offering a “Letters to Santa” program for children.

The Webber Park neighborhood in Sleepy Hollow will hold its holiday party on Dec. 10. The party will meet at 6:30 p.m. by the tree in front of the neighborhood for caroling and proceed to Eagles Hall.

The Sleepy Hollow Recreation Department is also sponsoring a gingerbread house-decorating contest, a holiday house-decorating contest and a snowman-building contest.
