IRVINGTON, N.Y. Irvington Mayor Brian Smith had some help as he swore in village Justice Desmond Lyons for another term: Lyons' daughter Ciara, who helped hold the bible.
Recently elected trustees in both Tarrytown and Irvington were officially sworn into office Monday night, kicking off their two-year terms. Lyons will serve a four-year term.
Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell officially swore-in incumbents Robert Hoyt, Mary McGee and Thomas Basher before appointing Basher as deputy mayor for another year.
Lyons officially welcomed incumbent Walter Montgomery and newcomer Mark Gilliland to the village board. Smith appointed Montgomery to be deputy mayor.
Hoyt, Basher and McGee ran on the Democratic and Tarrytown United lines against challengers Alison Boldyrev, Eleanor Miscioscia and Christine Miscioscia, who ran on the Republican and Tarrytown First lines.
Basher, McGee and Hoyt received 693, 660 and 684 votes respectively to Boldyrev's 268, Eleanor Miscioscia's 236 and Christine Miscioscia's 231.
Montgomery ran alongside former trustee Rocco Rasulo on the Republican line. Rasulo lost his reelection bid to Democratic challenger Gilliland, who received 635 votes, with Montgomery receiving 554 votes and Rasulo 446 votes.
