Update 3:15 p.m. Wednesday: Consolidated Edison reports 82 customers do not have power in Sleepy Hollow, Irvington and Tarrytown because of downed wires and pole damage.
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Heavy rain and wind knocked down several trees and cut off power in limited areas of Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington Tuesday afternoon, but the area was largely unaffected by the storms.
Tarrytown reported the most damage.
Between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., we had reports of four trees down, plus numerous reports of smaller branches in the roadways Tarrytown Police Lt. William Herguth said.
Herguth said a tree hit a building at 224 S. Broadway and that the wind blew a fence from the new tennis courts at Pierson Park onto 10 cars, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported during the storm.
Sleepy Hollow police said a few trees came down, but no major damage occurred. Sgt. Andrew Bessinger said Irvington was not hit hard by the storm.
We had a couple of tree limbs down, but nothing noteworthy, he said.
Heavy winds left 77 customers without power in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington, Con Edison said Wednesday morning.
Power was expected to be restored by 11 p.m. Wednesday night.
In Tarrytown, downed wires cut off power to a customer on Barnes Road and another on Cottontail Lane. Another outage was reported on Fairview Avenue.
In Sleepy Hollow, Con Edison said 17 customers were without power in Sleepy Hollow Manor and 42 in Philipse Manor.
In Irvington, a customer on Hamilton Road reported not having power, and 14 customers in a building on South Broadway were without power because of downed wires. An outage on Mountain Road was fixed Tuesday night.
