TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- More than 600 Tarrytowners took advantage of Free Slurpee Day, where the convenience store 7-Eleven gave away free Slurpees to celebrate its 84th birthday, according to the stores manager.
The Tierneys were one such family. Jacqueline and Stephen, along with their two daughters, came to the store Monday evening for the free 7.11 ounce drinks.
My girls love Slurpees. They said free Slurpees, so we came, Jacqueline said.
Stephen noted that some machines worked, while others were out. Jacqueline said she only noticed one that was working,
But it was the one they wanted, she said.
