TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Christmas has come earlyto the airwaves at least.
At least one local station has switched over to its holiday programming: New York City's 106.7 Lite-FM began playing its all-Christmas-music-all-the-time playlist on November 18, about a week before Thanksgiving.
Lite-FM's switch to holiday programming has prompted an annual debate: When is it appropriate to begin listening to Christmas music?
Local readers of The Daily Tarrytown and The Daily Sleepy Hollow were divided over the issue on Facebook when asked if it was too soon to start listing to Christmas music.
Sticking points in the annual debate include whether playing holiday music before Thanksgiving means people are skipping over that holiday. Karen Bickford was one such reader.
Let's enjoy one holiday at a time, she wrote.
Suzanne DeAngelis simply wrote Too soon! when asked about the issue.
Other readers wrote that they didn't mind hearing Christmas music before the actual Christmas season had begun.

One reader in particular did not mind that Christmas music was already on the radio.

Tarrytown resident Liz Karkoff had a formula of her own: it's too soon for Christmas music as long as there are still leaves on the trees [or] it's before Thanksgiving.
