Sleepy Hollow Trustee Stepping Down, Pleased With Terms

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – For Sleepy Hollow trustee David Schroedel, “four years is enough.”

“There are qualified people who would like to run,” he said. “I think it's time.”

The two-term village trustee is not seeking re-election in March. Schroedel says he ran four years ago to resolve legal matters surrounding the redevelopment of the General Motors site and to reorganize the police department.

“I accomplished the goals I set out to do,” he said, adding that the board completed his third goal by holding down taxes.

Schroedel was first elected to the board in 2008 and re-elected in 2010. During his terms, he has been active with the public safety committee and finance committee. He has also worked on the village's water issues.

Schroedel says he's proud of “significant changes” to the village's financial system made while he was on the board. He added that the village is now in a much stronger position and has a very healthy tax situation.

“When River's Edge and General Motors come on board, we're going to be one of the truly blessed communities in Westchester, and I'm proud I was a part of putting that in place,” he said.

Village elections will take place on March 20. Incumbent Karin Wompa will run alongside newcomers Jennifer Lobato-Church and Susan MacFarlane on the Democratic ticket. Newcomers Daniel Scott, David Bedell and Sean Roach are running on the Sleepy Hollow Independent ticket.
