Sleepy Hollow Offers Free Parking During Holidays

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Sleepy Hollow residents and visitors will notice something different on December 15 - free parking.

The Sleepy Hollow Board of Trustees recently voted to continue an annual holiday tradition and bag parking meters for the month of December.

Sleepy Hollow resident Antonio Padilla said he thought free parking was “definitely” a good idea “as long as some people don't take advantage of it and ruin it for other people.”

Parking meters will be bagged from December 15 to January 2, allowing residents to park without having to worry about feeding the meter.

Time limits on parking spaces will still be in effect. Residents should check nearby signage for time limit information.

“I think it's a good idea for the merchants,” Padilla said. He usually parks on Beekman Ave. when visiting the bank, Post Office or the liquor store.

Padilla said he uses the municipal parking lot across from Village Hall or street parking. He noted the area near the Post Office can get quite busy, so he wasn't sure if the free parking would help him out a lot.

Tarrytown will also offer free holiday parking in several areas through Christmas.
