SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. A light pole on Beekman Avenue fell and damaged a village vehicle while two employees were working to fix some Christmas lights on the pole on December 9 around 1 p.m.
Police say the pole damaged the vehicle's roof and windshield. The village employees did not report any injuries.
Police say one employee was on a ladder fixing the lights when the pole started to shake and began to tip over. The employee jumped off the ladder when it fell, later refusing medical attention and saying he was alright. After the incident, officials found the pole's base had been very rusty.

A resident reported that there was loud music and a man speaking over a P.A. system on Chestnut St. on December 10 around 10:45 p.m.
A resident reported water was coming up from a manhole cover in front of the garages of 124 Valley St. and warned it could ice over if the weather became colder. Police contacted Department of Public Works Foreman Richard Gross, who told them Con Edison was working to fix the problem and he would monitor the situation and salt the area if necessary.
A motorist alerted police to a downed tree just south of Phelps Memorial Hospital that fell across two northbound lanes on North Broadway on December 7 around 11 p.m.
One Palmer Ave. resident reported that a transformer blew and a wire was sparking on the road on December 7 around 11 p.m. Firefighters responded and notified Con Edison of a power outage.
A woman reported that she had been receiving several harassing phone calls when someone cursed at her after reporting she was a winner in a prize contest. Police told the woman it appears to be a phone scam and that she should press *57 to document the calls if they persist.
One Sleepy Hollow woman received a call from someone purporting to be her grandson on December 7. The man said he had been involved in a car accident in Puerto Rico and needed $4,000. The woman hung up on him and then called to verify that no family members were living or traveling in Puerto Rico at the time.
Police arrested and charged two people for unlawful possession of marijuana after checking on their vehicle on Gory Brook Road on December 6 around 10:30 p.m.
