Manuel C. Loja, 26, appeared in Sleepy Hollow Justice Court Monday on a warrant for driving-related charges.
Loja faces charges of operating a vehicle with suspended registration, driving without a license and operating a vehicle with no insurance. Loja has an Immigrations Customs Enforcement hold, according to court records. The District Attorneys office requested bail be set at $5,000 because if Loja was released Immigration officials would take him into their custody.
Acting Justice Alfred A. Farella set bail at $3,500 in bonds or cash.
Also heard in Sleepy Hollow Justice Court Monday:
Marijuana charges: Ivan Nakiya Evans, 35, pleaded guilty to charges of criminal sale of marijuana in the fourth degree and resisting arrest. Farella sentenced Evans to 11 months in the Westchester County Jail.
Endangerment charges: Reyna Cruz, 33, appeared in court on charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Cruz has been completing a Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities program. Cruzs case was adjourned until July 11 so special prosecutors could finish their investigation.
Disorderly conduct: Jamel F. Lyde, 22, and his lawyer asked for a two-week adjournment of Lydes case because he was not ready to make a decision about whether he wanted a trial. Farella granted the adjournment.
DWI charges: Anthony Rodriguez, 33, withdrew his plea of not guilty to charges of imprudent speed, driving while intoxicated and a stop/yield sign violation. Farella granted Rodriguez a one-year conditional discharge in the case, provided he attend a MADD victims impact panel, pay a $300 fine and attend a program such as TASC or Phelps Memorial Hospitals Threshold Chemical Dependency Service. Farella also suspended Rodriguezs license for 90 days.
Warrant issued: Farella issued a warrant for Berbelyn M. Almonte, 31. Almonte failed to appear in court on charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and blocking a crosswalk.
Criminal contempt charges: Jermaine J. Jenkins, 26, appeared in court on charges of criminal contempt in the second degree. Jenkins has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Farella granted a two-week adjournment after there was confusion about an order of protection against Jenkins. Farella ordered Jenkins to stay away from the woman involved in the order of protection while the matter was sorted out.
