Sleepy Hollow Beach Club Plans Improvements

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Structural improvements are in the works for the Philipse Manor Beach Club.

The Sleepy Hollow Planning Board recently approved a proposal to build a new building to house two bathrooms at the site of the private swimming and boating club on the Hudson River. Plans also include a facelift of Skip's Place, a changing and a storage room.

“Our members are anxious to see this kind of amenity and convenience and we're excited to get underway,” President Thomas Andruss said during the meeting.

The proposed building would include two bathrooms situated in the middle of the site adjacent to the Philipse Manor train station parking lot. Beach club officials estimated the improvement costs will be $90,000 during the planning board meeting. Much of the cost will be used to build a self-contained plumbing system.

Beach club officials announced the planned improvements on their website and have told members that the project's costs will be covered in three ways: a $100 assessment for member families during the 2012 season, a fundraising event to be held in the spring and funds from the capital maintenance fund.

The proposed project is in the middle of the permitting process, officials said.
