SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. Philipsburg Manor's Sheep-to-Shawl Festival is baaa-ck.
During two weekends in April, Historic Hudson Valley is once again showing visitors how people in the 18th century collected wool from sheep.
Kids love learning about the process of shearing and turning wool into yarn, and really, how often do you get a chance to see ducks getting herded by sheepdogs? said Site Director Thom Thacker.
The festival will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day on April 14-15 and April 21-22. Farmers will demonstrate how to shear, dye and weave the wool they collect by hand. Special hands-on activities will take place for kids, and food will be available.
In addition to sheep, visitors will greet several newborn lambs and watch Scottish border collies corral sheep and ducks. Storyteller Jonathan Kruk will be sharing lively tales.
Tickets for the event are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for kids ages 3-17. The festival will be held rain or shine.
Philipsburg Manor officially opens for the season on April 1.
