TARRYTOWN, N.Y. One man probably wishes he had written down where he parked his car after reporting that his car was stolen from the Chase Bank on South Broadway.
The man discovered his car was missing on December 9 around 11 a.m. and called the Tarrytown Police Department to report the theft.
When police officers got to the scene, they searched the area and found the man's car: it was at the Shell Station next door.
Instead of a car theft, it turns out the man had simply forgotten where he had parked.

A North Washington St. resident reported a burglary of her home on December 12. Police canvassed the neighborhood for the burglar, but found nothing.
A man suffered a dog bite on his right arm on Hillside Place after his dog got into a fight with a chocolate lab on December 11. The lab's owner produced a valid rabies vaccination certificate.
A man reported that his car had been scratched on the front driver's side fender and both driver's side doors on December 10 while parked on Franklin St.
A man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle after a vehicle and traffic stop on Main St. on December 11. The man was released on $200 bail.
A woman reported that someone had stolen a GPS unit valued at $250 and a pair of Coach sunglasses valued at $70 from her car while it was parked on Dixon Lane overnight on December 9.
Police filed an identity theft case on December 9 after a woman reported that the Internal Revenue Service had sent her a letter regarding a 2010 tax return that she had filed for social security. The woman told the IRS she was on disability and had not filed a tax return in several years.
Police received several reports of a strong gas odor on November 9 around 10 a.m., prompting the YMCA and Warner Library to be evacuated, after the Tennessee Gas Company vented a gas line across the Hudson River.
A taxi driver left the scene after hitting another car on South Broadway on December 9. When police followed up with the cab company, the driver said he had a fare and could not stop, but it was willing to pay for the damages out of his own pocket. The cab company later told police the driver didn't mention the accident until after police followed-up.
A man reported on December 8 that a Verizon truck had backed into his 2005 Chevy while it was parked on Franklin St. and then drove away around 11 a.m.
A neighbor in a Martling Avenue apartment complex complained about a neighbor banging on her ceiling and making unnecessary noise twice to police on December 8. Police note that noise complaints have been an ongoing issue between both residents.
