New York Times Details Aspects Of New Tappan Zee Bridge

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The New York Times gave a lengthy and in-depth look into the new $3.9 billion, 3.1-mile long bridge that will replace the Tappan Zee bridge, stretching from Tarrytown to South Nyack, in its Sunday, Jan. 19 edition.

The article also goes into the history of bridges built over the Hudson River, detailing the construction of the current Tappan Zee Bridge and the last Hudson-spanning bridge that was constructed, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

The bridge will reportedly be supported by one thousand different piles when completed, with about eight piles being completed every two weeks. The finished bridge will actually two parallel spans, separated by a space.
