TARRYTOWN, N.Y. The attorney for a Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps member accused of sexual harassment said his client has been reinstated into the corps after a recent hearing.
The Tarrytown Ambulance Corps has not yet confirmed the news that Alaric Young, 65, has been reinstated.
This has been a long and difficult period for Mr. Young, Attorney Stephen Lewis said in a statement. Despite his reinstatement, his reputation has been damaged; but hopefully this outcome will in part repair some of that harm.
A group of six current and former corps members within the ambulance corps have accused Young of sexual harassment and filed a complaint with the New York State Human Rights Commission. They said Young made inappropriate comments, unwanted physical advances and photographed female patients.
Young has disputed the allegations through his attorney and filed a lawsuit against a Tarrytown therapist who made a statement to the Tarrytown Board of Directors on behalf of several of her patients.
Lewis said the Ambulance Corps board had notified Young that his suspension had been lifted and he was fully reinstated without restrictions. Young had previously been suspended from the corps, meaning he could not go out on calls.
Lewis said Young is looking forward to continuing his 17 years of service to the community.
I applaud the TVAC hearing committee for its fair and impartial handling of this matter, he said. To the people who engaged is spreading false and malicious allegations as to this manall I can say is, they should be ashamed of themselves.
