TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Tarrytown police charged three men after some late night shenanigans that included blocking Route 9 with a steel bench and stealing a village banner.
Joel J. Rijneveld, 21, Max Kauffmann, 19, and Peter V. Akselson, 20, have been charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor and second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
Police said officers were conducting door checks on Main Street around 2:30 a.m. on April 4 when they noticed a large steel bench on North Broadway near Wildey Street that was blocking both directions of traffic. When police removed the bench from the road, they saw that garbage cans had been strewn about the sidewalks and the road.
Rijneveld, Kauffmann and Akselson were seen near the 7-Eleven store carrying a village banner that advertised recreation activities. Police questioned the men, who admitted to the shenanigans, and then took them to police headquarters for booking.

Assault: Mark Pena, 18, was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, after police said he got into a dispute in the River Plaza parking lot that sent two people to Phelps Memorial Hospital around 5 a.m. on April 5. Police said Pena fled the scene to Walgreens and they later found him to be in possession of a large stash of marijuana.
Marijuana Arrest: Police charged a 17-year-old and Tanis Annicchiarico, 18, with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, on April 4.
Drug Bust: Police charged three with drug-related crimes in the Walgreens parking lot around 5 p.m. on April 3. Letroy Calhoun, 31, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, and first-degree loitering, a misdemeanor. Melanie Clark, 21, and Jordan Hepner, 25, were both charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and first-degree loitering, a misdemeanor.
