Threatening Text Message Sent

An Irvington woman reported on June 20 around 11 a.m. that she had received an anonymous text message that she felt threatened by. No case was filed with the police.

Raccoons Make Appearance

Police received a report on June 20 around 6:30 p.m. that raccoons had been spotted in front of a residence on North Broadway, but the raccoons were gone by the time police arrived.

Woman Scammed Out Of $12,000

An Irvington woman told police that she had met a man online and struck up a relationship. The woman then spent about $12,000 on electronics for the man. The two had planned to meet at the airport, but the man never showed up. Realizing she had been the victim of a scam, the woman contacted police. The man later contacted the woman and told her that he was in a hospital in South Africa and needed $30,000 for his medical bills. The woman did not pay the $30,000.

Car Side-swiped

A car side-swiped a parked car while it was driving on Main Street on June 22 around 2:30 p.m.

Bronx Man Arrested for Larceny

Irvington Police arrested a Bronx man on June 23 around 11 a.m. for his involvement in an identity theft case.

Police say James T. Knox, 22, and others took personal information and checks from an Irvington woman. They then created a false check, and Knox deposited $7,000 of the woman’s money into his bank account.

Police are still investigating the matter and say more arrests will be made.

Mailbox Injured

Police received a report that four white males in a Toyota Camry had backed over a mailbox and left the scene on Manor Pond Lane on June 25 around 10 p.m.

Malfunctioning Boiler

Smoke in the basement of a house on Matthiessen Park caused fire officials to respond. The smoke had been caused by a malfunctioning boiler, which was fixed.
