TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Height has been an issue for several months for the Phase 2 residences currently in construction at the Hudson Harbor real estate development because it's about two feet too high.
Tarrytown trustees and the Planning Board will hold a special joint meeting on the issue on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Village Hall to discuss and consider an amendment to the findings statement regarding height for Ferry Landings, now known as Hudson Harbor.
The Hudson Harbor development sits adjacent to Pierson Park and the Hudson River in Tarrytown. Village Engineer Michael McGarvey brought the height issue to the attention of the board in October after developers realized they had built it a foot and a half too high.
Originally the garage door was 10 feet, McGarvey said. Then they realized they couldn't get out 10 feet and had to make it make it 11 foot six. You take that and you raise it up a foot and a half, that brings everything up a foot and a half unless you compensate for it somewhere else between floors, which they did not do.
Approved site plans for the development call for a roof height of 52 feet with a two-foot wall above that for a five-story building with 42 residential units. McGarvey noted the construction had gone in excess of that number and that developers had several options of fixing the problem, with the worst-case scenario coming back before a joint session of the Board of Trustees and the Planning Board to amend the height.
Village officials have the option of agreeing to a change in the approved height or they can issue a stop-work order if they decide to stick with the original site plans.
