Drunk Driver Crashes Into, Breaks Tarrytown Utility Pole

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown police charged a man with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after his car crashed into a Con Edison utility pole and broke it in half.

Carlos G. Chimborazo, 25, was driving on McKeel Avenue around 5 p.m on May 7 when he hit the utility pole. Chimborazo, along with a male passenger, then got out of the car and ran away, prompting several calls to police.

Officers found the passenger at the intersection of Main Street and South Broadway. He was charged with disorderly conduct, a violation.

Chimborazo was charged with DWI after a his blood-alcohol-content was found to be greater than .08. Chimborazo was taken to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.

Cab Dispute: A man called police after getting into a fight with a cab driver who refused to take him from the Tarrytown Train Station to the JCC on the Hudson around 5 p.m. on May 9. The cab driver told police he did not know where the center was and advised the man to take another cab. The driver also said he did not feel comfortable driving the man to his destination after the fight.

Con Edison Emergency: Firefighters told police they were assisting Con Edison gain entry into six residences on Highland Avenue for an emergency around 8 a.m. May 9.

Garbage Truck Accident: DPW General Foreman Scott Weaver reported that a garbage truck was involved in an accident at the intersection of Mechanics Avenue and Wildey Street around 2 p.m. May 7.

Sick Skunk: A Fairview Avenue resident reported a sick skunk on her property around 8 p.m. May 6. Police notified Greenburgh Animal Control.
