TARRYTOWN, N.Y. One man ended up in the Westchester County Jail after he tried to pass counterfeit money at the Mobil Gas Station on South Broadway in Tarrytown, police said.
The manager of the gas station called police around 5 p.m. on Jan. 18 after he recognized a man who he said had paid with counterfeit money two weeks before at the Tarrytown station, as well as one station in Ardsley, police said.
The manager reported that the man tried to use a counterfeit $50 bill and a $20 bill and then left the store, taking the fake money with him. Police stopped the man's car in front of the DoubleTree Hotel.
Police released one passenger in the car after interviewing him. The gas station's manager then identified the driver as the man who tried to use the fake money.
Police impounded the man's car and contacted Secret Service. The man was later arraigned without bail. He as scheduled to return to Tarrytown Village Court on Jan. 25.
Police did not release the man's name.

- One Tarrytown woman told police on Jan. 16 that she felt threatened by a former friend and the friend's brother. The woman said her former friend owed her $110 and she had been trying to peacefully collect it. The brother had apparently been following the woman around town in his car.
- A truck began leaking diesel fuel at the Shell Gas Station on South Broadway around noon on Jan. 16. Police contacted the Westchester County Hazmat team.
- One person got into a one-car accident on Barnes Street around 4 p.m. on Jan. 14, leaving a bumper on the front yard and damaging one home's railing and porch. The shrubs and lawn of another home on Barnes Street was also damaged. The driver agreed to pay for the damage.
- Someone at the EF School falsely pulled a fire alarm at Ursela Hall on Marymount Avenue around 2 a.m. on Jan. 14.
- The DoubleTree Hotel asked police to escort an intoxicated guest off the premises after she became abusive and used obscene language toward employees around 1 a.m. on Jan. 14. Police later charged the woman with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The woman was later released on $500 bail.
- Someone reported that a large amount of water was spilling onto Green Street around 5 p.m. on Jan. 13. Police and public works employees later determined it was residual water from a recent rainstorm.
- A transformer exploded around 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the intersection of White Plains Road and Benedict Avenue.
- A car drove off the road and onto the front lawn on Main Street around 2 p.m. on Jan. 12. Police had the car towed away and notified public works employees of debris in the road.
- One Tarrytown woman told police on Jan. 12 that she's received about 20 unwanted phone calls saying she is involved in a legal action and better have her lawyer call back or she will be thrown in jail. The woman told police she is not involved in a legal matter and her only debt is student loans.
