Sheahan, Retired Tarrytown Foreman, Dies at 87

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - Thomas F. Sheahan, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died Jan. 24. He was 87. 

He was born on April 9, 1924 to James A. and Helen Loftus Sheahan in Cortland, N.Y. Sheahan graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1941. From 1943 to 1946, he served in the Marine Corps.

Sheahan graduated from General Motors Institute with an engineering degree. He went on to work for General Motors Corporation as a foreman, retiring after 47 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1939 and Spencer Kelly Post of the American Legion.

Surviving are his sons Dennis (Marie) Sheahan of Albuquerque, N.M., Douglas (Patricia) Sheahan of Pearl River, N.Y. and Gary (Janet) Sheahan of Spencerport, N.Y. and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers John and William Sheahan. He was predeceased by his wife Bernadette in 1998 and his brother James.

Visitation is Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. The funeral mass will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown, followed by interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
