Quartet Opens Concert Series in Sleepy Hollow

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – The Carducci String Quartet will open the Friends of Music Concerts' spring season in the Sleepy Hollow High School Auditorium next week.

Student tickets for the concert will be available at the door free of charge to celebrate “the special place the Carducci String Quartet has established with students through the Friends of Music Concerts' Partnership residencies,” the Friends organization announced.

Music students at Sleepy Hollow High School, along with students from Bronxville, Briarcliff and New Rochelle, have all hosted one-day residencies with the quartet featuring performances and master classes.

The April 14 program will begin at 8 p.m. and feature works by Haydn, Shostakovich and Brahms. Parking is free. Adults may purchase $30 tickets by downloading order forms and mailing them to Friends of Music Concerts, P.O. Box 675, Millwood, NY 10546.

Friends of Music Concerts note that the quartet is “recognized as one of the most successful young ensembles in the world today.” The Quartet is the 2007 winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Library of Congress, among others.
