Longtime Tarrytown Waitress, Dorsett Dies at 90

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Hortense Dorsett, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died Feb. 25 at the age of 90. 

The daughter of James and Pattie Hamilton Bell, she was born on Jan. 2, 1922 in Water Valley, Miss. Dorsett worked for many years in Tarrytown and North Tarrytown as a waitress, including at Malandrino's, The Flamingo and The Pastry Chef. She was a member of the Tarrytown Seniors. 

Dorsett is survived by her sons Dennis (Sandra) of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Thomas (Jacqualine) of Pompton Lakes, N.J., her daughters Patricia (John) Cullen of Tarrytown ad Linda Dorsett of White Plains, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William Dorsett in 1982.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
