TARRYTOWN, N.Y. The three-time Class B state championship winner and New York State Federation Class B championship winner girls' basketball team was the toast of the village Sunday as residents finally celebrated the team's success.
A block party for the team included photos of the team hung around the village, grilled food and a large crowd. The Irvington Fire Department and Village of Irvington sponsored the party.
The team finished the season 25-1, with the only loss coming against Class AA Ossining during the regular season. The team won the New York Public Schools class B state championship against South Jefferson, 69-42, in Troy after defeating two previously-unbeaten teams.
The team's New York State Federation win was earned a week later, when it defeated Long Island Lutheran, 74-64.
