Gloria Koval, 85, Lifelong Sleepy Hollow Resident

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Gloria Lidia Koval of Sleepy Hollow died May 29. She was 85. 

A lifelong Sleepy Hollow resident, Koval was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors. 

Born Feb. 5, 1927 in North Tarrytown, she was the daughter of Gaetano "James" and Caroline Pellegrino Galassi. On Oct. 19, 1947, she married Walter Koval at Holy Cross Church. Before retirement, Koval worked at Mallory Battery Company in North Tarrytown and at the Howland-Steinbach facility in Greenburgh. 

Koval is survived by her husband, Walter; a son, Walter (Cathy) Koval Jr., of Mount Kisco; a sister, Caroline D'Amato, of Palm Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters, Jessie D’Eufemia, Elizabeth Maluccio and Frances Bell; and three brothers, Salvatore, Joseph and James Galassi. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Sleepy Hollow on Saturday at a time to be determined.
